Shame Starbucks with Cohobu Cappuccino

There is no doubt in my mind that what we ingest has more of an effect on our skin than any product that we use topically on our face.  I only use organic skin care on my face (Neal’s Yard Remedies), but I also combine that skin care routine with my knowledge of healthy foods to help keep my skin healthy and radiant.  With that in mind, I have been working on a morning drink that will energize me at the start of the day as well as jump start my skin upon wakening.

I am a tea drinker, and I am an avid yerba mate fan. (This is the brand I drink).  I have been drinking mate for years, ever since my college roommate from Uruguay introduced me to it. However, I am fully aware that the general public either does not know about mate, is not interested, or simply does not like the taste when they finally decide to try it.  I’ve come to face the facts that the morning beverage of choice for most is coffee.  There is always debate over the benefits of coffee versus the negative side effects. Keeping both sides of the argument in mind, I have tried to create a drink that is beneficial as well as tasty.

Although it is a bit more costly, organic coffee contains more antioxidants and does not carry the threat of pesticide residue. Check out this link to read about some of the benefits of organic coffee.  The brand I like is Pura Vida. I ilke Sumatra,

but any of their blends would be fine, depending on your personal preference.

To begin, you simply start by brewing coffee as your normally would each day.  I prefer to use a french press, so that is how I prepare my coffee.  Once your coffee is ready, pour 1 cup into an immersion blender container.  If you do not have an immersion blender, a regular blender would also work.  Then, add the following:

Use your hand blender to blend all the ingredients together until frothy.  The coconut oil and the butter add good fats that help boost your metabolism and bring moisture to your skin. The honey has excellent antioxidant benefits as well as giving the coffee just a touch of sweetness to combat the bitter flavor.  If you drink your coffee black, you can skip the honey, but I believe it adds to the taste and the health benefits.  Although it sounds strange, the combination of these ingredients makes for a wonderful creamy, foamy cappuccino-type drink that would rival any coffee shop.  I call this my Cohobu Cappuccino, in honor of its ingredients.   (Co- coconut, ho-honey, bu-butter).

It may be placebo, but whenever I treat myself to this morning concoction, my skin is rosy and I am full of energy all day.  I also get the added benefit of having the best cup of coffee, relaxed in my pajamas, in the comfort of my own home.

If you want health benefits for your skin, as well as the best-tasting cup of coffee that may have ever hit your lips, then I hope you will try my Cohobu Cappuccino.  It truly is as delicious as it sounds.
